Offering its technical assistance to the Rome-based Porsche Centers under the AB Racing banner, Target Racing had a positive debut in the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup championship last weekend at Imola. 22-year-old South African driver Keagan Masters, making his first appearance in the category, and driving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup-992 for the first time, was consistently among the stars of the event, while Francesco Maria Fenici, due to several reasons, could not collect the dividends he was hoping for. The Italian had actually scored an excellent P3 qualifying result in the Michelin Cup class but did not reach the end in the two races.
Masters, drove at Imola for the first time in Wednesday's official pre-weekend test, but quickly adapted to the car. In Qualifying 1, he managed to set an excellent P4, with a lap time that gave him access to Qualifying 2 (featuring the top-15 of Q1). In Q2, Masters again finished fourth, securing a second row start in the first race. The South African battled for the podium most of the race, but finished seventh at the end of a challenging battle, just a whisker away from the sixth place that was worth the reversed top-6 grid pole for race 2. In the second race, Masters finished eighth, receiving compliments from the entire Porsche paddock for his excellent debut. The next race weekend will be from June 3rd to 5th for rounds 3 and 4 at Misano.
