After claiming its first win of 2022 in the previous round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at Spa-Francorchamps, Target stayed on point at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the team’s first overall pole position in Q2 by Marzio Moretti. The Italian and teammate Milan Teekens had handed the team the win in Belgium after Teekens had secured P2 in qualifying 1. Driving the team’s Lamborghini Huracan ST Evo2 eventually delivered two Pro-class second places, bringing them in full contention for the runner-up spot of the championship. Moretti and Teekens will have a great chance to complete their comeback in the series’ World Finals on November 6th at Poritmão. Second place is now only 8 points away.
Target had two double podiums in the Pro class thanks to a new entry under the Lamborghini Stuttgart by Target banner. German drivers Daniel Keilwitz and Lennart Marioneck, making their series debut, quickly proved highly competitive and had the chance to put the team’s high potential to fruition against the top players of the championships.
Race 2 also handed the team two fifth places in class. Milan Petelet and another series rookie, Philippe Chatelet, ended up in P13 overall and were fifth in the Pro-Am category. In addition, Antonios Vossos clinched the top 5 in the Am class. The Greek racer had completed race 1 in P7 in class, while Petelet and Chatelet were ninth. The results allowed Petelet to retain third place in the Pro-Am standings. The team fielded another new entry, Spaniard Diego Locanto. Making his debut in the Super Trofeo, Locanto performed well, ending up in P28 overall, and 11th in the Am class in race 1. He was forced to retire in race 2.
