Next weekend at Vallelunga, Target Racing will make its return in the Italian GT Championship. It will do it by entering two cars in the Sprint series. Roberto Venieri's team will field a Ferrari 296 GT3 for Hulin Han, racing solo in the AM category, and a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 for Andrea Fontana and Alessandro Mainetti in the GT Cup PRO AM class. Target thus expands its involvement in motorsport, already being a major player in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, a category that will see it competing in Monza on the weekend of June 1st.
Han raced with Target in 2024, obtaining excellent results in the AM class of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and in the past, he took part in the Challenge Ferrari. Fontana, 28, began his career in the Italian Formula 4 championship and then moved on to the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, becoming a PRO-AM World Champion in 2016. In the same year, he won the title in the Italian Formula 2 Trophy with a Formula 3 single-seater. He then dedicated himself to the world of Gran Turismo, racing in the main European categories. Now he embarks with Target in this new project together with 21-year-old Mainetti, who has experience in the Italian GT and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.
The Vallelunga weekend will start on Friday, May 23, with free practice. On Saturday, May 24, the GT Cup qualifying is scheduled at 9:00 while the GT3 qualifying session will start at 10:25. Also on Saturday, the first GT Cup race will take place starting at 2:10, followed by the race for GT3 cars at 4:35. On Sunday 25 May, the start of the second GT Cup race is scheduled at 10.10, with the start of the second leg of the GT3 championship at 13.00.
